This week we have been working hard in our writing and maths. We have been learning how to use the strategies in our math learning into oral language. We found it a little bit hard trying to explain how we found our answer to say it out loud using the maths language. We know we will get use to explaining our learning soon because we talk about it everyday. In Writing, we are talking about 'Myths and Legends'. To help us build our vocabulary in writing, we are researching a hero or heroine of mythical time and legends. Here are some photos of us researching and in deep thought. Also this week we have a homework assignment to complete. Fakalofa Kia ora and Talofa Amazing Arewhana have been given an assignment focused around their Writing. This will help build their experiences by using characters to form their stories. The theme we are focusing on is ‘Myths & Legends’. Amazing Arewhana have been busy these last 5 weeks, from having Constable Nicki to swimming in our school pool. Constable Nicki is doing a programme called Kia Kaha and we are learning to deal with bullies!! Zero Tolerance!! The types of behaviours we should be using in and outside our classroom. Swimming has started and it has been cold. Our teacher shows how to walk into the pool safely and how to walk around the pool. We also used the float board to learn to kick and float from one side of the pool to another. We also used the hula hoops to swim through. We have two more weeks of swimming and we are looking forward to them. Til next time. Ciao From Amazing Arewhana.
Thank you to Whaea Jayde and Grandpa Shui for being responsible parent helpers. They were able to see a Gigantic Stick Insect. 'This was massive', said TeHiao. 'Wow'! said Vaega. 'I'm glad its not at my house', said Laekim. We really enjoyed looking at the Native part of the Zoo. After our talk with Zookeeper Christie she said we could have a look at the other areas of the zoo to see what the habitats contained for animals. This is Christie talking about this Nocturnal animal, the Kiwi. We then went to see the Tuna. A fact taught to us about the Tuna. The Tuna swims all the way to Tonga to lay its eggs and then die. The eggs then hatch and make their way back to New Zealand to the climates that their bodies cater for. We asked so, Tuna are the only creatures that don't parent their babies. Factual but sad. So Amazing Arewhana really had a fantastic day. Enjoy our blog and leave a comment.
